Can you work a part-time job if you owe social security back payments of up to $6,000 yes or no

If you owe Social Security “back payments” (a case of where they overpaid benefits to you), they will recover that money by either a) a re-payment plan which you negotiate with them directly, or b) withholding your Social Security benefit payment until they recover what you owe. But, yes, you can still work a part-time job and your benefits will not be affected. However, if you haven’t yet reached your full retirement age and you exceed the annual earnings limit, that could add to the amount of money you will need to pay back.
