How many deadlines are there for Medicare
Lori
The standard open enrollment begins three months before your 65th birthday, the month of your 65th birthday, and three months after your 65th birthday. If you are still working and have creditable employer health insurance coverage, or are covered under your spouse’s employer coverage, you do not need to take Medicare at this time. The company must have more than 20 employees. You should always confirm with your Human Resources department or Benefits Administrator that you have creditable coverage.
If you have worked beyond your 65th birthday and remained on your employers or spouse’s health insurance coverage you have up to eight months after that coverage ends to apply for Medicare. However, you need to be aware of is that you only have 63 days to sign up for an Advantage Plan, Part C, which requires you to have both Medicare Part A and B. You also only have 63 days to sign up for Medicare Part D, prescription coverage, which only requires you to have Medicare Part A or Part B.
There are quite a few reasons for Medicare allowing a Special Enrollment Period. I have attached the link giving you the list of reasons: https://www.medicare.gov/basics/get-started-with-medicare/get-more-coverage/joining-a-plan/special-enrollment-periods
