On 12 June 2021, our Nation honors the women who have served and sacrificed for our country. The date falls on the 73rd anniversary of the Armed Service Integration act. The Women’s Armed Service Integration Act, enacted June 12, 1948, created a major change for America’s military and the women who chose to serve. This landmark legislation established a permanent place for women in our nation’s military services. Prior to this act, women, with the exception of nurses, served in the military only in times of war.
On this date, we honor all our women Veterans and recognize their perseverance, grit, and dedication, along with the diversity and inclusion women bring to the military. We are forever grateful for all women Veterans! Keeping with this theme, if you would like to share the story of a veteran close to your heart, please email us at awf@milmedia.email.
