Founded on October 22, 2018 by a core group of retired First Responders and Veterans, #WalkTheBridge is committed to raising awareness about First Responder and Veteran suicide.

Post-Traumatic Stress Injury (PTSI) is the leading cause of suicide in our first responder and veteran communities.

On September 26, 2020, the Rockwall and Rowlett communities officially dedicated the State Highway 66 bridge as the “Heroes Memorial Bridge.”

“Post-Traumatic Stress Injury (PTSI) has been a silent killer among the law enforcement community for many years. PTSI affects many current and retired officers who quietly battle the daily traumas they have witnessed during their careers. Many hide this injury well, with fake smiles and dark humor, but the fact remains they are hurting inside.”
