Since 2011
True North Veteran Support is a 501c3, non-profit organization to benefit Military Veterans, Law Enforcement, Fire and EMS. Our programs are open to all Veterans and First Responders; however, our primary mission is for those suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress (PTS).
Broken Horse. Veterans and First Responders will be assisting with the rehabilitation and training of rescue horses, many of these horses will have PTS of their own. During the process, the Veteran and First Responder will be forming a trust-bond relationship with that horse, reintegrating the horse back into the world of equine sports, trail riding or simply desiring human contact once again. The process of working with the horse helps the Veteran and First Responder work through their own PTS.
Casting for Heroes. In this program, we start with a series of six fly tying classes where the Veteran and First Responder will learn fly tying technique and tie two flies per class. At the end of the series of classes, we teach them how to cast those flies and take them on a guided fly-fishing trip. Our goal is to infect them with the fly-fishing bug, reduce stress and ultimately promote healing.
Other programs offered are agriculture, aquaculture, job connections, and helping to meet the basic needs of the Veterans and First Responders.
Serving Veterans and First Responders with these programs also helps support the families and communities of those who have given so much on our behalf.
We are a 100% volunteer organization and are committed to rescue, reduce, re-purpose, recycle, and re-use.
