The In Honor of Our Troops (IHOOT) Foundation was established at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington D.C. when many wounded from the Global War on Terrorism began arriving there. Although Americans knew that military men and women were losing their lives in combat, they were totally unaware of the challenges the survivors faced during the difficult and painful transition from able-bodied Warriors to permanently disabled Veterans.
The IHOOT and Vacations for Vets Founder was the Marketing, Sponsorship and Commercial Activities Director and a Vietnam era USMC Officer. He began to develop programs and events to bring awareness of the plight of Veterans and their their families and has helped thousands reconnect. IHOOT and Vacations for Vets are non-profit charities under Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
