A Resource for Leaders and Hiring Managers

This reference booklet can help civilian employers understand the potential skills that transitioning service members and veterans may have developed through on-the-job experience. The booklet offers quick-access summary tables listing the criticality of each skill for performance in select military occupations; and a sampling of vignettes that illustrate on-the-job experiences relating to these nontechnical skills. The booklet can help civilian employers better evaluate résumés, conduct interviews, and make informed hiring decisions by increasing awareness about the skills veterans have to offer.
