Our Social Security Advisory Staff
After earning his A.S. Computer Science degree from Pierce College in Philadelphia, Gerry began what would be a 30-year career in the Electric Utility Industry in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Along the way, he completed his Bachelor's degree in Business Administration at Alvernia University in Reading, Pennsylvania, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1992. Retiring in 1997 as Information Technology Director for the utility, he served as Development Director for a manufacturing consortium in Pennsylvania, and then embarked on a second career as Business Manager for a regional law firm in southeast Pennsylvania. In Florida, he has served as a Consultant and Adjunct Instructor at Lake Sumter State College in 2004, and later at College of Central Florida. In addition, he served as a Consultant at Sumter Electric Cooperative, handling a variety of management training, professional development, and technical responsibilities. Since late 2012, he's been providing consulting and professional services to the AMAC organization. Gerry is a National Social Security Advisor, certified by the “National Social Security Association, LLC.”
After serving in the U.S. Army, Russ started his professional career in computing technology, working at Pan American World Airways, American Express Company, and finally at IBM, where he rose to become executive Director of IBM Global Services’ worldwide quality assurance program and project management profession. Russ retired from IBM, and for the last 10 years has served in several capacities for the Association of Mature American Citizens, now as a member of the AMAC Foundation’s Social Security Advisory team. Russ earned his NSSA® accreditation as a Social Security advisor in 2016 and has handled thousands of client Social Security questions since that time. He has written two books on Social Security (available on Amazon or at the AMAC Foundation), writes the nationally syndicated “Ask Rusty” Social Security advice column, and publishes a weekly podcast about Social Security, while continuing his duties handling daily questions about Social Security.
Sharon has a background in accounting and tax preparation of more than 20 years. She began working for AMAC as a Member Service Representative because she believes in what AMAC stands for and what we are trying to accomplish for both seniors and America. She loves working with the public and being able to help people.
Sharon’s duties at the Foundation are focused on assisting our members that have questions about Social Security. In addition, Sharon assists with the Foundation’s financial record keeping and coordinates the production of reference materials on Social Security and related subjects. She is a dually accredited advisor with the “National Social Security Association, LLC" since April 2016 and the "National Association of Registered Social Security Analysts" since September 2018.
Ken brings to our Advisory Team a strong, working knowledge of Social Security's organization and operation. As a 34-year SSA professional, he has extensive experience in dealing with questions and concerns from the public about Social Security. Ken's practical approach to interpreting the public's information needs makes him an effective communicator for folks trying to decipher the complexities of this vital senior program. His in-depth experience in dealing with the public fits well with the resources on our team, and his ability to convey Social Security's rules and regulations in clear and understandable terms is an invaluable addition to our Advisory Service. As an NSSA-accredited Advisor, Ken will be helping us deal with the growing volume of inquiries our team handles.
Ken is a resident of North Fort Myers, Florida, and escapes to the Northeast US for the summer months.
Mark retired in 2023 after spending the past 38 years working for the Social Security Administration. His entire career had him working on the front lines’ educating our seniors about all facets of the very complex and confusing SS, disability, and Medicare programs. Prior to Covid, he had the opportunity to do a lot of presentations around Seminole County, FL educating our seniors about these programs. His passion is doing presentations to inform people on a topic that will matter to them and their families.
Deb joined AMAC Foundation in 2024, sporting an MBA in Leadership and 22-year career in the academic arena providing operations support. Addition of her previous experience in the business sector, results in a well-rounded perspective she lends to all endeavors. She is inquisitive by nature and has a penchant for simplifying the complex.
Deb reaps satisfaction from assisting others in “moving the needle forward” and enjoys her work and personal life. She and her husband reside in Florida where they co-parent their pet mini pig. Sharing the Saturday Stumper crossword puzzle and Sunday drives top their list of favorite activities.
Andy retired from the State of Michigan after working for 34 years. She started as a receptionist at the Attorney General’s office and retired as a section manager for the Michigan Department of Transportation, Office of Passenger Transportation (OPT). While at OPT, Andy worked directly with the transit agencies across the state and saw the difference transit service makes for so many people. As the section manager, she was responsible for the delivery of the entire federal and state transit program in Michigan. She became very passionate about public transportation and serving the public. This passion led her to AMAC where she can continue helping people understand a very complex Social Security system.
Outside of work, Andy and her husband Jim enjoy golfing, camping, traveling/wandering, visiting with family and friends and taking their golden retriever Izzy on new adventures. She also plays the piano for the Community of Christ church and pretends that she knows how to play a baritone ukelele.
