Dear Rusty: I will turn 66 this year and am considering claiming my Social Security. I have already applied for Medicare. My parents passed on several years ago, and the estate will probably settle this year. I would like to know if my inheritance money will have any effect on my social security benefits. If so, how? Signed: Wondering Heir

Amanda,
You will need to contact the Social Security Administration directly to determine if a decision has been made on your appeal hearing. Here at The AMAC Foundation do not have access to your personal Social Security records so we cannot answer your question. I suggest you call Social Security at 1.800.772.1213 to find out if a ruling has been made yet. Note you will also get a written notification via the US Mail when a decision is rendered.
