MILITARY-TRANSITION.ORG WAS FOUNDED AND LED BY MR. BRIAN NISWANDER, AN AIR FORCE VETERAN WITH OVER 30-YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IN BOTH THE PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SECTOR. IN THE MID-1990S, BRIAN TRANSITIONED FROM ACTIVE DUTY INTO THE CORPORATE RANKS AND HAS SERVED IN VARIOUS MANAGEMENT AND LEADERSHIP POSITIONS ACROSS THE FORTUNE 500 AND PUBLIC ORGANIZATIONS. HIS CIVILIAN CAREER INCLUDES LEADERSHIP ROLES IN OPERATIONS, MARKETING, RESEARCH, ANALYSIS, STRATEGIC PLANNING, GLOBAL SUPPLY CHAIN AND MANUFACTURING. THE INSPIRATION FOR THIS PROJECT CAME AFTER RECRUITING, HIRING AND MENTORING SERVICE MEMBERS AND VETERANS FOR THE PAST DECADE. DURING THIS TIME, HE FOUND CONSISTENT CHALLENGES REGARDING THE TRANSITION PROCESS AND LACK OF UNDERSTANDING REGARDING THE CIVILIAN WORKFORCE. THIS LED TO THE INITIAL TRANSITION STUDY AND WHICH WAS DEVELOPED TO ADDRESS THE KEY QUESTIONS SERVICE MEMBERS ASK WHEN CONSIDERING THEIR POST-MILITARY LIFESTYLE AND EMPLOYMENT. THIS STUDY GATHERED RESPONSES FROM VETERANS AND SHARED INSIGHTS WITH THE MILITARY COMMUNITY. IN LATE 2017, MILITARY-TRANSITION.ORG EXPANDED THIS RESEARCH TO INCLUDE ACTIVE DUTY, GUARD AND RESERVE MEMBERS, MILITARY SPOUSES AND EMPLOYERS.
