Warnings, alerts, and helpful bulletins about how to safeguard your identity in today’s electronic arena seem to be everywhere, and the simple fact that our annual mid-April (April 17 this year, actually) income tax filing deadline is hurtling toward us makes it an even more compelling topic right now. You’ve probably seen numerous reports from the IRS and other government agencies offering tips and hints on protecting your personal information, like filing early and so on. The watchword in all of these media accounts, of course, is “to be forewarned is to be forearmed.”

So, with all of these warnings buzzing around the media these days, and if you’re one of the many who have not yet filed 2017 tax returns, now’s a good time to take a deep breath and re-focus on opportunities to protect yourself.
