SAN ANTONIO – This time of year can be extremely challenging for veterans. Last year, suicides among veterans increased 25 percent during the final quarter of the year.
Experts fear 2021 could be even worse.
“We know it’s a problem particularly this year after Afghanistan because so many veterans were already not in a great place following that withdrawal,” says Texas native Cole Lyle, executive director of Mission Roll Call, which deals with military health care and suicide prevention.
