About the Program

Designed in collaboration with Walmart, Wounded Warrior Project, and Organizational Wellness and Learning Systems (OWLS), the SAFE Veterans Wellness Program, “Veteran Wellness: Journey from Coping to Thriving” empowers veterans who face mental health challenges and substance use disorder to thrive in their transition from service.

This wellness program, made by and for veterans, promotes resilience for post-9/11 veterans (ages 18-65) and encourages participants to seek help where there is a risk for substance use, mental health, and co-occurring challenges (PTSD, MST, TBI, and illness). It consists of six 50-minute training modules including online recordings, exercises, and worksheets.

On Veterans Day 2020, SAFE Project announced this partnership and set up pilot programs in markets with large veteran populations – San Antonio, Philadelphia, and Mayport, Florida. These pilots resulted in 90% of respondents reporting improvement in understanding their strengths, developing stress and coping methods, resource-seeking skills and setting aspirational goals.
