In acknowledgment of National Vietnam War Veterans Day, observed March 29, Bill Cooley of Florence Township shared candid details of his year-long deployment in Vietnam.

Cooley, 75, is a native of Ohio and alumnus of Three Rivers High School. He earned a degree from Michigan State University, but was drafted into the Army.

Cooley went on to serve as a medivac pilot, fulfilling more than 400 missions in Vietnam and Cambodia from December 1970 to December 1971.
