Veterans Education at NC State
NC State’s Veterans Education office serves nearly 1,000 student veterans and eligible dependents in the processing of their VA Education Benefits. With two full-time School Certifying Officials, Veterans Education specializes in benefits counseling, academic degree audit support, Military Credit Articulation, Military Leave of Absence processing, military and veteran residency, outreach, prospective student counseling, and supporting several state level and UNC System initiatives.

GI Bill benefits help service members and eligible dependents pay for college, graduate school, and training programs. Since 1944, the GI Bill has helped qualifying veterans and their family members get money to cover all or some of the costs for school or training. In 2017, the Harry W. Colmery Veterans Educational Assistance Act, also called the Forever GI Bill, was passed into law. The bill further expanded veterans’ educational benefits most notably removing the 15 year delimiting date service members had to use their 36 months of earned benefits.
