This workshop will explore a little-known benefit available to U.S. Armed Forces veterans who were on active duty during a period of war. It’s titled “Pension With Aid and Attendance”, and it could be a life-changer for many men and women who require home care or care in a health care facility and require the assistance of another person (for bathing, dressing, medication monitoring and other activities of daily living).
The Pension With Aid and Attendance benefit is available to veterans and their spouse, and also to surviving spouses and to spouses of a healthy veteran in need of care. Veterans having the wartime service credits only need to demonstrate that caregiver assistance, or a living facility more suitable to their physical limitations is required, and that they have a financial need.
Kim Lanning, representing Caring Avenues, will provide education on this important benefit and will help attendees understand how to take advantage of the benefit to improve their lives.
The session will begin at 10:00 am and is scheduled to conclude by 11:30 am, although Ms. Lanning and Foundation staff representatives will be on-hand afterward to respond to questions and provide any further assistance anyone might need.
Deadline for registration is Friday, November 10, 2017. Light refreshments will be provided before and during the session.
