Foundation Reaches Platinum Rating on Guidestar Platform
There are millions and millions of nonprofit organizations registered in the U.S. So, if you represent a grant-making organization, or perhaps a corporate or private donor, how are you supposed to sift through this many potentially worthy recipients to select those most closely aligned with your values, thoughts, and views? That's where GuideStar, a service providing centralized sources of information on U.S. nonprofits, can help you out.

Guidestar is reportedly the world's largest source of information about nonprofit organizations, with a mission "to revolutionize philanthropy by providing information that advances transparency, enables users to make better decisions, and encourages charitable giving."

And with over 26 million prospective donors researching the information Guidestar maintains on the 2.7 million non-profits registered with them, it's no wonder that they lay claim to being the world's largest source of information on nonprofit organizations.

Our Foundation has maintained a profile on Guidestar since 2015, and recently updated our data and included metrics for some of the programs we operate. As a result of these updates and the added information, we are now recognized by Guidestar with the Platinum Seal of Transparency - uideStar's newest and highest level of recognition. With this rating, we are now positioned in Guidestar's highest transparency grouping, a level applied to less than 5% of the nonprofits registered on their service.

"But what I hope for from a book - either one that I write or one that I read - is transparency. I want the story to shine through. I don't want to think of the writer."

Anne Tyler,
American Novelist

Remember Our Foundation on Giving Tuesday!
The AMAC Foundation is participating in GIVING TUESDAY NOW, a global day of giving and unity that will take place om May 5, 2020 as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19. In partnership with GivingTuesday's global network of leaders, partners, communities, and generous individuals, this event is set to spark an increase in grassroots generosity, citizen engagement, business and philanthropy activation, and support for communities and nonprofits around the world.

As you may recall from previous newsletters and postings on our various sites, we have kept our Foundation's Social Security Advisory Service operating during the pandemic's lockdown. Our Advisory Staff has redeployed to work-at-home mode, shifting our operating environment quickly and seamlessly while continuing to serve the needs of those having urgent questions about their Social Security benefits.

Our workload has expanded substantially in recent weeks as we serve folks with questions during their inability to contact Social Security closed during the pandemic, as well as those trying to navigate the confusion surrounding the economic impact payment processes.

Please consider contributing to our Foundation during this crisis. Donations of any size are sincerely appreciated and can be made via our Foundation website donations page.

Finally...we're getting into Social Media!
We've had a Facebook page for months, but frankly have not made much use of it. One of our goals for 2020, though, is to get more active in the social media arena as a way to help raise the Foundation's visibility in this important and popular area. With the help of the great folks in AMAC, Inc.'s Bohemia, New York office (the multi-talented Alyssa Lopresti, specifically), we've breathed new life into our Facebook page, and are now routinely posting important items regarding things happening in our organization.

In addition to specific announcements (like the recent acknowledgement of our Advisory Service's 10,000th response) and notices of upcoming seminars and workshops (of course, we're temporarily out of that business until pandemic restrictions are lifted), we've begun to regularly repost the Foundation's blog articles. We're beginning to see a wider viewing of this material, and we encourage everyone to visit our page and follow us regularly. And, of course, if you have any suggestions for our use of social media, please contact us!

Next up, Twitter!
