DESCRIPTION:It’s no surprise to most of us of a certain age…Medicare Open Enrollment is racing toward us! If you’re new to Medicare\, or if you’re already a beneficiary with questions\, now’s the time to get the help you need. The AMAC Foundation has prepared an informative one-hour overview of the key points everyone needs to know for the 2018 enrollment cycle\, as well as the fundamentals surrounding this essential senior benefit program. \nThe Foundation will present this overview in a live seminar next Thursday\, October 5 at the AMAC office in Leesburg. We’ll cover the world of Medicare\, including: \nHow Medicare works \nThe time frames applicable to new sign-ups and changes to your coverage \nThe range of options you need to consider \nAnd many other topics! \nThe overview will be presented by a seasoned professional with extensive depth in the insurance industry. DESCRIPTION:Sudden Death: Are You Prepared?\nAttention: This event is comprised of three two-hour sessions.  \nHere are the dates of all three sessions: Wednesdays – October 16\, October 23\, and October 30 – 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm \nIf you passed away tomorrow\, will your loved ones know what to do? Will they know where your financial information and tax records\, insurance records\, and investment documents are stored? Will they be able to locate your most current will\, health care directives\, and documented funeral wishes? Can they locate important household documents\, like deeds\, car titles\, and pension statements? \nThe list goes on and on\, but the important point is that having this type of pertinent information organized and available in a structured place is something you can do in advance for those you leave behind. It’s a big task and it’s not an easy one…we know that. But with a structured approach you can create a living document that will prove invaluable to your loved ones. \nThis seminar has been structured to guide you through the process of creating your “Survivor Notebook\,” the repository that will help your loved ones cope after your passing. We suspected there would be much interest\, but our available seating was filled almost immediately\, so we’ve scheduled a follow-up edition for October 17\, 2017. In case you missed it the first time around\, here’s the description for this seminar: \nCord-cutting–the act of severing the traditional link to cable television–has grown substantially in recent years as two factors collide: the availability of a host of new options on the home entertainment market\, and growing dissatisfaction with cable companies’  price/reliability/service model. On this first factor\, the past few years have brought services like Netflix\, Amazon Prime Video\, Sling TV\, Huku\, Roku\, and others into the mainstream vocabulary\, while on the second factor\, many households have begun to take exception to what is perceived as a continual ramp up of pricing from the cable companies and somewhat of a deterioration in reliability and service levels. \nFor many households\, price has been the driver to consider dropping their cable service in favor of a newer\, cheaper option. Yes\, the cable companies gleefully advertise that their contract gives you hundreds and hundreds of channels\, and it breaks down to perhaps pennies for each of them. But realistically\, how many different channels do you really want? Most people typical have only a handful of favorites\, maybe a half dozen or so\, while the “hundreds and hundreds” available on cable are rarely–if ever–accessed. Here’s where the pay-as-you-go options of the rapidly emerging streaming market emerge as attractive alternatives. \nOK\, but how do I get there? What do I need to have to get there? And when I get there\, what have I given up? These and many other relevant questions will be answered in this informative two-hour session presented by the Foundation. SUMMARY:Fight Back! Help Prevent Medicare Fraud
DESCRIPTION:This workshop has been cancelled\, and will likely be rescheduled over the winter months. Stay tuned for details!\n \nAs part of its continuing seminar series on topics of critical importance to seniors\, the AMAC Foundation is collaborating with Florida’s Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP) to present a community outreach event designed to help “Stop Fraud in its Tracks.” The seminar is held in conjunction with SMP’s Health Care Fraud Prevention Program\, a public service initiative to enlist seniors and other community members in detecting and preventing scams\, improper payments\, and other illegal practices that are fraudulently draining an estimated $65 billion each year from the funds available for their healthcare. \nThe AMAC Foundation is a non-profit organization focused totally on the needs of America’s seniors\, and is collaborating with Florida’s Senior Medicare Patrol to help spread the word about the dramatically high cost of Medicare fraud. The seminar will focus on protecting personal information\, detecting errors occurring in the Medicare payment stream\, and detecting scams and deceptive practices\, and will explain the proper ways to report suspected health care fraud. \nThe one and a half hour program has been scheduled for Wednesday\, October 18\, 2017 at the Sumter County Library at Pinellas Plaza in The Villages\, and is open to the public. The program will begin at 10:00 am\, and will be held in Room 102 at the library\, 7375 Powell Road\, Wildwood\, FL 34785. \nJoin us for what promises to be a highly informative session aimed squarely at helping protect the health care benefits you’ve earned. It’s a big problem\, one that the FBI has estimated plagues between 3% and 10% of all Medicare billings.
