DESCRIPTION:It’s no surprise to most of us of a certain age…Medicare Open Enrollment is racing toward us! If you’re new to Medicare\, or if you’re already a beneficiary with questions\, now’s the time to get the help you need. The AMAC Foundation has prepared an informative one-hour overview of the key points everyone needs to know for the 2018 enrollment cycle\, as well as the fundamentals surrounding this essential senior benefit program. \nThe Foundation will present this overview in a live seminar next Thursday\, October 5 at the AMAC office in Leesburg. We’ll cover the world of Medicare\, including: \nHow Medicare works \nThe time frames applicable to new sign-ups and changes to your coverage \nThe range of options you need to consider \nAnd many other topics! \nThe overview will be presented by a seasoned professional with extensive depth in the insurance industry. But with a structured approach you can create a living document that will prove invaluable to your loved ones. \nThis seminar has been structured to guide you through the process of creating your “Survivor Notebook\,” the repository that will help your loved ones cope after your passing. DESCRIPTION:To Access This Event Live\, Click AmacFoundation.org/Live\nCord-cutting–the act of severing the traditional link to cable television–has grown substantially in recent years as two factors collide: the availability of a host of new options on the home entertainment market\, and growing dissatisfaction with cable companies’  price/reliability/service model. On this first factor\, the past few years have brought services like Netflix\, Amazon Prime Video\, Sling TV\, Huku\, Roku\, and others into the mainstream vocabulary\, while on the second factor\, many households have begun to take exception to what is perceived as a continual ramp up of pricing from the cable companies and somewhat of a deterioration in reliability and service levels. \nFor many households\, price has been the driver to consider dropping their cable service in favor of a newer\, cheaper option. Yes\, the cable companies gleefully advertise that their contract gives you hundreds and hundreds of channels\, and it breaks down to perhaps pennies for each of them. But realistically\, how many different channels do you really want? Most people typical have only a handful of favorites\, maybe a half dozen or so\, while the “hundreds and hundreds” available on cable are rarely–if ever–accessed. Here’s where the pay-as-you-go options of the rapidly emerging streaming market emerge as attractive alternatives. \nOK\, but how do I get there? What do I need to have to get there? SUMMARY:Understanding Veterans Aid & Attendance Benefits
DESCRIPTION:This workshop will explore a little-known benefit available to U.S. Armed Forces veterans who were on active duty during a period of war. It’s titled “Pension With Aid and Attendance”\, and it could be a life-changer for many men and women who require home care or care in a health care facility and require the assistance of another person (for bathing\, dressing\, medication monitoring and other activities of daily living). \nThe Pension With Aid and Attendance benefit is available to veterans and their spouse\, and also to surviving spouses and to spouses of a healthy veteran in need of care. Veterans having the wartime service credits only need to demonstrate that caregiver assistance\, or a living facility more suitable to their physical limitations is required\, and that they have a financial need. \nKim Lanning\, representing Caring Avenues\, will provide education on this important benefit and will help attendees understand how to take advantage of the benefit to improve their lives. \nThe session will begin at 10:00 am and is scheduled to conclude by 11:30 am\, although Ms. Lanning and Foundation staff representatives will be on-hand afterward to respond to questions and provide any further assistance anyone might need. \nDeadline for registration is Friday\, June 16\, 2017.
