SUMMARY:Sudden Death: Are You Prepared?
DESCRIPTION:Attention: This event consists of three\, 2-hour sessions. \n\n\n\nHere are the dates for all 3 sessions: \n\n\n\nTuesday\, September 13\, 2022; Monday\, September 19\, 2022; Tuesday\, September 27\, 2022 — 10:00 am to Noon (EASTERN TIME)\n\n\n\nNote Location:  Villages Public Library at Pinellas Plaza\, 7375 Powell Road\, Wildwood\, FL 34785 \n\n\n\nLimited spots left. Register now!! Please check back for future sessions in 2023.\n\n\n\nProgram Description:\n\n\n\nIf you passed away tomorrow\, will your loved ones know what to do? Will they know where your financial information and tax records\, insurance records\, and investment documents are stored? Will they be able to locate your most current will\, health care directives\, and documented funeral wishes? Can they locate important household documents\, like deeds\, car titles\, and pension statements? \n\n\n\nThe list goes on and on\, but the important point is that having this type of pertinent information organized and available in a structured place is something you can do in advance for those you leave behind. It’s a big task and it’s not an easy one…we know that. But with a structured approach\, you can create a living document that will prove invaluable to your loved ones. \n\n\n\nThis seminar has been structured to guide you through the process of creating your “Survivor Notebook\,” the repository that will help your loved ones cope after your passing. Conducted in three separate two-hour sessions\, we’ll walk you through identifying what needs to be considered\, assembling the material as we go in an accessible format\, and we’ll be developing an approach to maintaining the material so that it’s always current. You’ll leave with a physical roadmap that will be of immeasurable value to your family. \n\n\n\nThere is no cost for this workshop series\, but attendance is limited so you must register to attend. Light refreshments will be served at each session. Notebook materials will be provided.  \n\n\n\nA Note on the Importance of Pre-Registering\n\n\n\nFor certain seminars (including the “Sudden death – Are You Prepared?” series)\, there is a considerable amount of interaction between the speakers and the participants\, so we prefer to limit the number of participants to 24. Also\, participants are provided resources in the form of a formal notebook and various reference materials\, all of which must be assembled in advance. Hence\, we need to carefully track the number of expected (and registered) attendees. While we can occasionally accommodate walk-ins\, that’s not always the case\, and unregistered folks then tend to be disappointed at having wasted time and effort. Finally\, since we also provide snacks for attendees\, it’s important that we know the audience size we need to plan for when we purchase our supplies the day before. \n\n\n\nAlso\, if after registering you find that you are unable to attend\, please let us know so we can offer that space to someone on our waiting list.\n\n\n\nTo register: Contact the AMAC Foundation\, 888-750-2622 or email: info@amacfoundation.org

SUMMARY:Sudden Death: Are You Prepared?
DESCRIPTION:NOTICE: This event has been fully subscribed. No more registrations are being taken. Watch this site for announcements about the next edition. \n\n\n\nAttention: This event consists of three two-hour sessions. \n\n\n\nHere are the dates for all three sessions: Wednesdays – July 6\, July 13\, and July 20 — 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm (EDT)\n\n\n\nNote Location:  Lady Lake Library\, 225 Guava St.\, Lady Lake\, FL 32159 \n\n\n\nAttendance is limited; you must register to attend. \n\n\n\nProgram Description:\n\n\n\nIf you passed away tomorrow\, will your loved ones know what to do? Finally\, since we also provide snacks for attendees\, it’s important that we know the audience size we need to plan for when we purchase our supplies the day before.\n\n\n\nAlso\, if after registering you find that you are unable to attend\, please let us know so we can offer that space to someone on our waiting list. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nTo register: Contact the AMAC Foundation\, 888-750-2622 or email: info@amacfoundation.org

SUMMARY:The Heart of the Veteran
DESCRIPTION:AMAC and its affiliate companies are staunch advocates on behalf of America’s Veterans\, believing strongly that veterans issues should remain a highly visible priority for any administration and any community. As opportunities present themselves\, AMAC’s resources champion these causes in order to underscore their importance. Locally\, the AMAC Foundation has sponsored educational sessions covering benefits available to our Veterans\, providing guidance on how to access these benefits. \n\n\n\nAs part of AMAC’s commitment to the Veteran community\, the company and its non-profit affiliates AMAC Action and AMAC Foundation have joined forces on a major initiative–AMAC’s Veterans 2021 Project–designed to synchronize a number of our efforts in support of our American heroes. As part of this project\, we’re proud to join forces with VITAS Healthcare to bring you a riveting discussion focused on understanding the impact of military culture and experiences\, the issues encountered by caregivers serving combat veterans\, and the myriad related services available for veterans and their families. The seminar’s goal is to honor the veterans’ preferences for end-of-life care and to provide them with the respect\, recognition\, comfort\, and compassion they deserve through dignified treatment and quality care. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOn Tuesday\, January 25\, we’ll conduct this highly informative session featuring VITAS Veteran Liaison Benedetto “Ban” Mongiovi\, III. Ben is an Iraq war vet with deployment experience in Kuwait and Turkey\, and a proud father of a battle-tested 82nd Airborne paratrooper and father-in-law to a Fort Carson\, Colorado-based Soldier. \n\n\n\nThis seminar is being presented in a virtual format (Zoom)\, and will be recorded for on-demand availability via the Foundation’s website. SUMMARY:A Real-Life Perspective on PTSD and Its Relationship to Veteran Suicide
DESCRIPTION:NOTE: This event is presented by One More Day Inc.\, a Veteran-Operated nonprofit VSO/MSO dedicated to ending the loss of our nation’s cherished Veterans at the hands of suicide. The AMAC Foundation is partnering with One More Day as part of the AMAC Veterans 2100 Project. To register for this webinar\, contact the One More Day organization at 208-992-6178.\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nAbout the Webinar:\n\n\n\nAccording to the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH)\, Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a disorder that develops in some people who have experienced a shocking\, scary\, or dangerous event. \n\n\n\nExperiencing PTSD is not a rare situation\, and it’s not restricted to the Veteran community. PTSD is a mental health problem that some people develop after experiencing or witnessing a life-threatening event\, like combat\, a natural disaster\, a car accident\, or sexual assault. It’s normal to have upsetting memories\, feel on edge\, or have trouble sleeping after this type of event. If symptoms last more than a few months\, it may be PTSD. The good news is that there are effective treatments. \n\n\n\nFrom the Veteran’s perspective\, official statistics report that 12% of Gulf War (Desert Storm) Veterans experience PTSD each year. For Vietnam Veterans\, that rate is even higher (about 15%)\, with an estimated 11% to 20% of Veterans from operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom similarly affected. These are high numbers\, and they give evidence to the need for focused attention on understanding and managing the problems associated with this often-debilitating condition. \n\n\n\nOne More Day\, Inc. is a registered non-profit VSO/MSO dedicated to eliminating suicide within the military\, veteran\, and law enforcement communities\, and one of their urgent priorities is the delivery of critical information on topics integral to this mission. Toward that goal\, One More Day\, Inc. is beyond honored to host a two-time American Hero. Delta Force Command Sergeant Major Tom Satterly will be our featured speaker on our PTSD webinar on 1/14/22 @ 1400 MST. Tom is one of the most decorated special operations warriors of all time and was involved in thousands of classified missions to protect the United States and his brothers/sisters. Tom did not know it at the time\, but his worst foe was yet to come. After leaving the military\, Tom\, like many of our warriors\, was haunted by Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Listen to Tom and his wife Jen as they explain to us how he came back. Tom is now back in the saddle and helping other special operations warriors overcome that same foe. \n\n\n\nIn addition to sharing the Satterlys’ story\, our webinar will discuss the neuro-psychology of why we suffer from PTSD\, some current awesome treatments\, and even what is on the horizon. Dr. Paul E. Holtzheimer\, MD\, Deputy Director for Research at the VA’s National Center for PTSD\, will be our featured expert\, along with several speakers on-hand to answer a variety of questions regarding PTSD. We also will have a number of experts on-hand to answer a multitude of questions regarding PTSD.If you are suffering from PTSD\, or know someone dealing with PTSD\, and want to learn about the ways we are working with experts to ensure that suicide is not the answer\, please join us.January 14th @1400 EST \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nIf you are suffering from PTSD and want to learn about the ways we are working with experts to ensure you do not end up planning suicide\, please join us.

OUR NEXT SERIES BEGINS APRIL 21\, 2022.\n\n\n\nAttention: This event consists of three two-hour sessions. \n\n\n\nHere are the dates for all three sessions: Wednesdays – January 12\, January 19\, and January 26 — 10:00 am to Noon \n\n\n\nNote Location: Lady Lake Library\, 225 West Guava Street\, Lady Lake \n\n\n\nAttendance is limited; you must register to attend.\n\n\n\nProgam Description:\n\n\n\nIf you passed away tomorrow\, will your loved ones know what to do? \n\n\n\nAlso\, please be advised that COVID-19 restrictions may be in effect for this seminar series. Stay tuned to this webpage for alerts. \n\n\n\nA Note on the Importance of Pre-Registering\n\n\n\nFor certain seminars (including the “Sudden death – Are You Prepared?” series)\, there is a considerable amount of interaction between the speakers and the participants\, so we prefer to limit the number of participants to 30. Finally\, since we also provide snacks for attendees\, it’s important that we know the audience size we need to plan for when we purchase our supplies the day before.\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nAlso\, if after registering you find that you are unable to attend\, please let us know so we can offer that space to someone on our waiting list.\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nTo register: Contact the AMAC Foundation\, 888-750-2622 or email: info@amacfoundation.org

SUMMARY:Coping With Loss During the Holidays (WEBINAR)
DESCRIPTION:Here’s a startling quote from a Florida-based home care service: “According to Mental Health America\, more than two million of the 34 million Americans age 65 and older suffer from some form of depression – and during the holidays this number climbs.” Unfortunately\, there are many similar reports of melancholy settling in as the holiday season arrives\, and it kind of makes you wonder why\, since this season is generally welcomed by so many as a time of celebration\, family get-togethers\, relaxation\, and peaceful personal reflection. For many\, though\, and especially for the senior segment of our population\, dealing with the loss of loved ones and the memories of time gone by can color an otherwise festive time with a bit of sadness. \n\n\n\nSo\, with the holiday season rapidly approaching\, AMAC foundation in collaboration with VITAS Healthcare explores this matter with an insightful webinar titled “Coping with loss during the Holidays” webinar. We understand the holidays can be a hard time of year with the memories of our loved ones\, and with this webinar we’ll provide valuable information on the dynamics\, reactions\, and strategies of loss and grief and understanding how these dynamics are made especially difficult and depressing during the holidays. Our featured speaker will be Jessica McClure\, LCSW Bereavement Manager for VITAS Healthcare Lake and Sumter Counties. \n\n\n\nVITAS Healthcare\, with more than 40 years of experience in hospice care\, is the nation’s largest single-source provider of end-of-life care. Their nearly 12\,000 professionals provide care to over 19\,000 patients daily throughout 14 U.S. states and the District of Columbia. \n\n\n\nNote: This session will be offered as a webinar. It will be recorded and subsequently available for on-demand viewing via the Foundation website’s “Videos” page. \n\n\n\nTo register for the event\, please contact the Foundation office at 888-750-2622 or via email at info@AmacFoundation.org. \n\n\n\nWe’ll “see” you there!

SUMMARY:Understanding Advance Directives (WEBINAR)
DESCRIPTION:Most folks have a general understanding that advanced directives are legal documents through which they can specify what health-related actions should be taken on their behalf if illness or incapacity renders them unable to make decisions for themselves. While the general concept is known\, there is widespread misunderstanding about their use in today’s patient/physician interactions. We welcome Brittany Burgher of Vitas Healthcare who will share her insight into the meaning and types of Advance Directives and provide guidance and resources for their use. Brittany serves as Regional Director of Admissions for Vitas Healthcare\, where she specializes in the development of admission nurses to help better determine hospice eligibility in terminally ill patients. She is a Registered Nurse/Paramedic\, with a Clinical background in Emergency Medicine\, Critical Care\, and Hospice & Palliative care. \n\n\n\nNote: This session will be offered as a webinar in partnership with VITAS Healthcare\, and will be recorded and subsequently available for on-demand viewing via the Foundation website’s “Videos” page. \n\n\n\nTo register for the event\, please contact the Foundation office at 888-750-2622 or via email at info@AmacFoundation.org. \n\n\n\nWe’ll “see” you there!
